H flumes are convenient devices for accurate measurement of open channel flows, especially if trash is present. Several of the HS (smaller) types were constructed of plexiglas and used successfully in a commercial plant to measure effluents from vegetable washers. Lumped data from the calibration of three flumes were fitted to a curve of the form y = ax b . The correlation coefficient R 2 for observed versus calculated values was 0.998. A 99% confidence band fitted to the prediction curve was very narrow, indicating the high degree of accuracy of the device.
