Students completed journal entries each session and included pictures as a visual reminder of the day’s events. These journals were given to the participants at the end of the program. The care partners completed surveys during the final sessions. Student were also asked to provide written feedback about successes and challenges of the program This program was embedded into the Foundations in Geriatrics class, a required course for first year Doctor of Physical Therapy students at Gannon University. Each student worked directly with a participant for one session and assisted in other sessions as needed. Debriefing sessions were held during class time to discuss issues related to Alzheimer disease and ways students can incorporate newly acquired knowledge into the examination, evaluation and treatment of patients with early stage Alzheimer disease. Students also discussed the importance of the role of the care partner. The next stage of this program is to implement changes and run the program again.
