S2‐01‐06: Challenges implementing social/behavioral intervention RCTs for AD caregivers

of a community-oriented initiative is our attempt to provide evidence-based information related to dementia and driving to municipal government careprofessionals nationwide. Specifically, through a grant from the Japanese government, our research team has recently published a 35 page pamphlet which targets family caregivers with a family member who faces the cessation of automobile driving as a result of dementia symptoms. The pamphlet is also aimed at care-professionals who may be in a position to assist family caregivers with this issue. We have written this pamphlet with a view to providing evidence-based information on the best approaches to driving cessation; anyone (e.g. caregivers or care-professionals) can download this pamphlet from our website. We have also notified all of the 1809 municipal governments in Japan about the publication of the pamphlet. It is envisaged that this pamphlet will enable care-professionals to recognize the needs of demented patients and family caregivers, and to better coordinate appropriate services which will meet those needs.
