carotid artery plaque is increased(P1⁄40.011). Among the risk factors, Diabetes, age, past stroke history are increased(P 1⁄4 0.0000, P 1⁄4 0.006, P 1⁄4 0.05) and HDL cholesterol showed tendency of decrease(P1⁄40.033). However hypertension, smoking, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride and sex are not correlated with intracranial arterial stenosis. Conclusions: Among the stroke patients with dementia, about a half of them have intracranial arterial stenosis and these patients tend to have higher burden of advanced atherosclerosis as evidenced by a higher prevalence of Diabetes, large sized plaques of carotid artery and peripheral arterial occlusive disease.
