Summary Amplified distillation is a useful technique for the quantitative analysis of mixtures of fatty acid esters, especially for the detection and estimation of minor components and for the analysis of small samples. The amplified distillation of free fatty acids is largely limited to qualitative work on account of the formation of azeotropes with mineral oils.
