Abstract A method of derivation of the accelerations of generalized strains for various structures is presented. Contrary to the common approach to the problem, consisting in successive differentiation of the components of appropriate strain tensor, the method utilizes the general formulas, defining objective time derivatives of tensors. In the structural analysis, such a way of derivation of the higher rates of the strain tensor is less involved and permits the rates associated with various objective time derivatives to be systematically obtained.
