A semi‐infinite plate is exposed to the stepwise‐decelerated hypersonic flow at zero angle of attack. The boundary layer reconfiguration gives rise to an induced pressure. To obtain this temporal pressure distribution, the transformed momentum and energy equations have been solved using the approach of Ref. [1]. These solutions are used to evaluate the displacement thickness for the unsteady boundary layer. The differentiated displacement thickness is finally used in the induced pressure expression involving the acoustic approximation. The shearing stress and heat transfer at the wall are obtained.
