The equations for the unsteady free‐convection of a fluid near an infinite plate whose velocity and temperature are arbitrary functions of time are solved by means of Laplace transforms. Exact integral solutions for the velocity and temperature with the Prandtl number arbitrary are presented. Analytical solutions in closed form are given for certain variations in the velocity and temperature of the plate.
