In this paper we have obtained an unsteady motion of a viscous homogeneous incompressible liquid, contained between two coaxial cylinders. The result is an extension of that given by Sneddon (1951). Initially, the outer cylinder is rotating with constant angular velocity Ω. When the steady state is attained, the inner cylinder is given an impulsive twist such that it begins to rotate with constant angular velocity Ω 1 .
