Absolute values of K X‐ray fluorescence (XRF) cross‐sections have been calculated for elements 11 ⩽ Z ⩽ 69 at three excitation energies corresponding to Mn, Ag and Te K X‐rays from 55 Fe, 109 Cd and 125 I radioisotopes respectively and the fourth energy corresponding to the 59.60 keV γ‐ray from 241 Am. Measurements were also made for these cross‐sections for ten elements with 18 ⩽ Z ⩽ 48 at two excitation energies from 109 Cd and 125 I radioisotopes. The measured values are compared with those obtained from theoretical considerations and a good agreement is found.
