The subject of this paper is a method for compressing noisy measurement data as far as possible without unacceptable loss of relevant information. This is achieved by transformation into wavelet space and conversion of the wavelet coefficients to small integers. The resulting data file has a high redundancy. Thus, its size can be reduced to some percent of the size of the original data file by standard lossless data compression. The method described is simple and universally applicable.
