Rhodamine B decorated, mesitylene cored and methylene p ‐phenoxy bridged dendrimers 1–3 were synthesized upto second generation in good yield by divergent methodology. The intensity of the UV‐Visible absorption and emission band increases on increasing the number of the dendritic wedges. The antibacterial activity of the dendrimer 3 was found to be better than the lower generation dendrimers 1 and 2 against both the gram positive and gram negative bacteria such as B. subtilis, S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa .
