The phase stability of different ordered phases on the f.c.c. lattice in a binary Ising crystal with competing thermal and forced jumps is studied to model the behaviour of high energy particle irradiation. A special Monte Carlo technique is used to compute a so‐called stochastic potential, the equivalent of a thermodynamic potential under nonequilibrium conditions. Furthermore the case of irradiation‐induced phase separation is studied in a simple one‐dimensional model with a similar technique.
