Abstract The dynamic behaviour of fluctuations in magnetization is considered in inhomogeneous systems represented by thin films. The presented approach is a generalization of Oguchi's method's for the description of the spin correlation decay. The time‐dependent correlation function is obtained for thin films. In the case of infinite sample it is reduced to the Ornstein‐Zernike form. The damping and the diffusion coefficients are evaluated. The spin correlation time is of a local character and may be treated as a parameter for the determination of the surface fluctuations observed in experiments.
