Energetic materials are rarely utilized in a pure form but knowing their properties is important from the scientific perspective. In this work we did some experiments to assess explosive properties of BCHMX in the charges with small diameters. First, the compound was recrystallized from different solvents to obtain particles with appropriate shape and size distribution. The samples were characterized mainly with SEM and sensitivity testing. The detonation velocity of BCHMX with charge diameters of 5.0 mm and 7.5 mm was measured with short circuit sensors. Underwater explosion test was conducted to determine the initiation power of detonators containing BCHMX and RDX. Both materials had high performance under the test conditions.
