Abstract Subject of the investigation is an elastically designed shrink fit with solid inclusion and functionally graded hub. It is shown that in case of radially decreasing density not only a saving of weight but also a considerably better performance at rotation may be achieved which predominates over a marginally worse evolution of the interface pressure with increasing temperature.
