Abstract We consider mixed boundary value problems for partial differential equations which are parabolic in one part of the underlying domain and elliptic in another part. Such problems arise in eddy current simulations in electromagnetics. A fully discrete scheme for the numerical solution of such problems is presented. Particularly, adaptivity in space and time is discussed. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
