The fragmentation patterns of aromatic 3‐methylisoxazolo‐ and 2‐methyloxazolopyridines were investigated by high‐resolution mass spectrometry and collisionally activated B/E and B 2 / E linked scans. The isoxazolopyridines give mass spectra near identical with those of the corresponding oxazolopyridines, both showing mainly a competitive loss of CO and CH 3 CN from the molecular ion. However, the ratio of these concomitant pathways depends substantially on the type of fusion between the five‐ and six‐membered rings.
