A broadband, circularly polarized (CP), new structure, dipole‐shaped antenna is proposed in this article. The antenna is composed of dipole‐shaped patch, FR4 substrate, ground and feeding coaxial cable. A double‐printed semicircular ring is utilized to feed the radiator. An optimized antenna with an oversize of 0.42λ 0  × 0.42λ 0  × 0.136λ 0 0.75 × 0.75λ 0  × 0.15λ 0 (at 1.32 GHz) is designed and measured. The measured results show that the proposed antenna yields an impedance bandwidth (IBW) of 36.8%(1.24–1.8 GHz), a 3‐dB axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth of 24%(1.32–1.68 GHz), and an average gain of 9.1 dBic in the operating frequency band.
