Abstract A method based on artificial neural networks (ANNs) for calculating the input resistance of circular microstrip patch antennas is presented. The Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm is used to train the networks. The theoretical input resistance results obtained by using this method are in very good agreement with the experimental results available in the literature. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
