Abstract (20S)‐20‐Carboxy‐1,4‐pregnadien‐3‐one was hydroxylated by Cochliobolus lunatus in positions 11β and 12β. The two novel compounds were characterized by means of UV‐, IR‐ and NMR‐spectroscopy. The possibility to use microbial degradation products of the 20‐carboxy‐pregnane type for the partial synthesis of glucocorticosteroids is discussed.
