The synthesis of C‐1 tritiated or deuterated acrolein is described. The oxidation of allylic alcohol with the silver carbonate on Celite reagent shows an important isotopic effect. One can take advantage of this effect for a simple preparation of tritiated aldehydes. The NMR spectrum of deuterated acrolein is analysed and calculated.
