14 C‐Labeled chlorogenic acid (specific activity 30.6 nCi/mg) was synthesized by reaction of diphenylmethyl‐1‐0‐ethoxy‐carbonyl‐4,5‐0‐isopropylidenequinate (V) with 0,0‐dimethylcarbonyl caffeoyl chloride‐α‐ 14 C (VIII) followed by selective hydrolysis of the protecting groups.
