The α‐2 antagonist Atipamezole has been labelled with carbon‐11 using [ 11 C]CH 2 O and the corresponding α‐ketoaldehyde 1. For the synthesis of 1 two routes are proposed. The radiochemical yield of [ 11 C]Atipamezole was 24% relative to [ 11 C]CH 2 O and the synthesis time, including HPLC purification, was 30 minutes.
