This study was undertaken towards enabling PET imaging of polymer‐based drug delivery. Iodinated doxorubicin conjugate (DOXIB) was characterised against un‐conjugated DOX within and outside a polymer formulation in tumour cell lines and tumour bearing animal models. The results provide the basis for developing the feasibility of [ 124 I]‐DOXIB PET to assess in vivo pharmacokinetics of drug formulation.
