Condensation of aromatic carboxaldehydes with [2‐ 14 C]‐ malonic acid under Knoevenagel conditions provides corresponding β‐aryl substituted [α‐ 14 C]‐acrylic acids. The reaction is applicable to both aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes under controlled reaction conditions leading to moderate to good yields.
