Abstract 14 C‐labelled 3‐(3, 4‐dihydroxy‐5‐nitrophenylmethylidene)‐2,4‐pentanedione (4) and 14 C‐labelled E‐N, N‐diethyl‐2‐cyano‐3‐(3,4‐dihydroxy‐ 5‐nitrophenyl)acrylamide (5) have been synthesized from [carbonyl‐ 14 C]vanillin.
