The formation of secondary products during the radioiodination of aromatic amines is reported. Iodination of a series of N,N‐dimethyl‐N'‐(alkylphenyl)‐1,3‐propanediamines with IC1 in the presence of AcOH and HClO 4 gave in addition to the expected iodo derivatives substantially amounts of secondary cleavage products which were identified as the corresponding iodobenzaldehyde derivatives.
