Abstract High specific activity tritiated 3β, 14α ‐dihydroxy‐5β‐cholest‐7‐en‐6‐one, has been prepared using a precursor which permits rapid and easy labelling. This compound is converted to ecdysone under in vitro conditions by insect prothoracic glands, a well known site of ecdysone biosynthesis.
