A method is described for the preparation of 5‐bromopentanoic‐ 5 ‐ 14 C acid which is inserted via the Wittig ylid into the desired prostaglandin intermediate in the last carbon‐carbon bond forming step of the Corey synthesis. Three different prostaglandins were prepared carbon‐labeled (both 14 C and 13 C ) in the metabolically stable position 5 to illustrate the general utility of this procedure.
