Indium‐111 mesoprotoporphyrin IX has been prepared by refluxing suitable proportions of InCl 3 , sodium acetate, and mesoprotoporphyrin IX in glacial acetic acid. The labeled metalloporphyrin is sufficiently water‐soluble for use as a scanning agent, and can also be incorporated into heme apoproteins for perturbed gamma‐gamma angular correlation measurements.
