Pregnenolone (Δ 5 ‐pregnen‐3β‐ol‐20‐one) is labelled with 14 C and deuterium in position 21. The radioactive carbon is inserted by the means of diazomethane‐14C. The deuteration is realized by the reduction of 21‐diazo‐pregnenolone under the action of iodhydric acid dissolved in D 2 O.
