The title compound 2 was synthesized and treated in basic medium with alkyl halides, electrophilic alkenes, aromatic nitro compounds, and phenylacetylene to give the products 3–6 . The synthetic utility of this approach was also demonstrated by transformations of 3b into compounds 7–10 .
