Each system is unique and requires tailoring of the systems engineering process to ensure that it is applied effectively and efficiently. The concept of tailoring is well recognized, but there is limited literature on generic tailoring methodologies. In this paper, a simple yet effective generic tailoring methodology is proposed. The paper identifies the system characteristics that should be considered during the tailoring process and key performance indicators. The MeerKAT project is used as a case study to derive the methodology and is used to illustrate its application.
