Environmental Asset Management (EAM) includes Environmental Asset Protection (EAP). Rare, important, and valuable natural assets need protection from vandalism and criminal syndicates determined to exploit these assets, for commercial gain or other purposes until the assets are exhausted. This paper addresses elements of environmental crime and the risk management strategies as part of EAP, including risk management system functions. A unique implemented risk management system in the Kruger National Park (KNP) is presented. Aspects of implementation are discussed including; challenges, lessons learnt, and initial measurable effects obtained.
