This paper relates the experiences of the US Army Aviation & Missile Command team chartered to reengineer the Airworthiness Release and Qualification Process. Specifically, it reviews the processes the team used to identify issues and problems with the current process; development of recommended approaches for changes; definition and modeling of the current and “to be” processes; and lessons learned selling the new and improved process to the leadership and to the action officers.
