To stabilize the lens retardation profile for LC GRIN lens, an advanced overdriving method is proposed. This method improves the balance of electric fields generated from several lens electrodes, and reduces the degradation of retardation profile, such as a disclination line and irregular shape. It has been successfully demonstrated with a 17 inch 2D/3D display using the proposed method.
