Projected capacitive (p‐cap) touch technology now dominates the consumer‐electronics touch market, but many different touch technologies still compete in the commercial touch applications. Why is this so? Will it continue? While p‐cap market share will continue to grow, this objective analysis supports the view that diverse requirements in commercial‐touch applications will maintain touch ‘biodiversity‘.
