We propose a method for fast switching of an in‐plane switching (IPS) liquid crystal cell at a low temperature. The slow response time that is inevitable at a low temperature was reduced by forming polymer networks in an IPS cell. The electro‐optic characteristics of a polymer‐networked IPS cell were measured at temperatures ranging from −10 to 20 °C. We believe that the proposed technology can be applied to display devices, such as mobile phones and automotive displays requiring use at a low temperature.
