Transparent display is currently an emerging topic in the display technologies for mobile device, monitor, shopping window and vehicle application. Electrowetting display (EWD) is one of the potential technologies because of its higher transmittance, colorful choosing, and faster response time. Recent development of transparent electrowetting display in ITRI had been discussed in this paper. Slot die coating and assembly processes were evaluated for mass production. Pigment based colored oil and sealant were developed to improve the reliability of panel. Finally, by process modification and defect inspection, the highly stable 6‐inch transparent electrowetting display with 35% transmittance could be realized.
