This paper describes a new e‐paper system, which is suitable for office applications. As a replacement of paper based work, it is necessary to have the same readability as paper, capability of handwriting, and convenience of IT equipment. In order to satisfy these requirements, there are three main features of this system. One is a high resolution electrophoretic display (EPD) which provides printed paper image quality. Another is binary display driving which provides high speed image writing on a high resolution display. The last is an original EPD control scheme which gives quick page turning or handwriting performance.
