In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the need for water utilities to develop a culture of communicating with and involving their consumers in the importance of investing in the future of their water systems and to involve them in how that investment will be made. He mentions two AWWA‐sponsored programs, Partnership for Safe Water and QualServe, that use local solutions to achieve national public health and safety objectives. He also mentions the AWWA “Only Tap Water Delivers” campaign as another example of utilities communicating the value of water to their customers.
