This report discusses how dosing pumps have evolved from the earliest generation of mechanical machines to the new current designs that use roboticlike technology to achieve new standards of accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and simplicity. The report traces the evolution of the various technologies used in metering pumps, and highlights the changes that have been made to the drive and control functions. An independent pump consultant discusses his view on the metering pump technology evolution.
