As part of its fiscal year 2005 funding, the US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) has awarded more than $1.7 million as part of 16 desalination research cooperative agreements it has with utilities, companies, and universities throughout the United States. Included among the research agreements are a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) project in California, a project studying reduced membrane contamination in Texas, and a wind‐powered desalination project in Massachusetts.
