Preventive maintenance is a vital part of efficient, reliable plant operation even if time and budget constraints allow only simple clerical systems of control. The Washington (D.C.) Suburban Sanitary Commission installed a comparatively modest system at its Potomac water filtration plant that provides a consistent, documented program with adequate management controls.
