A joint venture by the area homebuilders association and the water and natural gas and electricity utilities for the purpose of constructing an ideal water and energy‐conserving home resulted in the creation of a new kind of builders’ program. Accepted by area lenders, the program helped buoy a sagging construction market and provided more potential buyers with the opportunity to purchase a home.
