Abstract The sheath thicknesses and numbers of collisions from an infinite fluid model of the space between an atomic cold gas plasma and a planar wall are reported in dependence on the normalized ionisation, ion elastic and charge exchange collision frequences. The Bohm criterion validity, ion heating in double layer electric field, volume radiative recombination and related questions are discussed.
