A synthetic approach to [LAl(OH) 2 ] (L=HC{(CMe)(2,6‐ i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 N)} 2 ) is described. A novel congener of boronic acid, the single‐crystal X‐ray structure of the complex is shown to be a dimer (see picture) displaying short AlOH bonds, and exhibiting interdimer hydrogen bonding, the origin of which has been discerned by theoretical and spectroscopic analysis.
