Carbon nanoflasks encapsulating the MgC x Co 3 ternary phase have been synthesized. Structural and compositional analyses of the encapsulated particles (see Figure) revealed that the MgC x Co 3 particles are crystalline and well protected by the covering graphene layers. The encapsulated particles exhibit mixed superparamagnetic and ferromagnetic behavior.
