Complexes between precious metals and noble gases are more abundant than was initially considered likely. For example, in addition to the already known [AuXe 4 ] 2+ species, the cations cis ‐ and trans ‐[AuXe 2 ] 2+ (whose structure is depicted), [XeAuFAuXe] 3+ , and [AuXe 2 F] 2+ have been prepared and structurally characterized by X‐ray crystallography in the form of their [SbF 6 ] − or [Sb 2 F 11 ] − salts.
